Our Mission

The vast majority of adults want to remain in their homes and neighborhoods as they get older, but sometimes this takes a supportive community. ChaiVillageLA is a vibrant, multi-synagogue, multi-generational community that enables congregants to age in place in their own homes by providing assistance to one another and enriching each other's lives, as part of a self-governing village supported by Jewish values.

ChaiVillageLA is part of the rapidly growing Village Movement--a new social venture of neighbors helping neighbors--that enables people to continue living in their homes and their communities as they get older. ChaiVillageLA is a pioneering initiative by Temple Emanuel of Beverly Hills and Temple Isaiah, creating the first synagogue-based village in the country. Together, these two innovative synagogues have established a unique communal and multi-generational system of mutual support, where village members provide each other the programs, services and resources which enable them to live healthier and more engaged lives. The initial funding for the development and operations of ChaiVillageLA has been provided by a three year "Cutting Edge Grant" awarded by the Jewish Community Foundation of Los Angeles. ChaiVillageLA began offering programs and events in April 2016, starting with new member get-togethers. Member-provided caring services such as rides and friendly visits, began in early 2017. Today there are over 220 joyous and engaged ChaiVillageLA members.
