MEET CORI CLOSE:
Creating Champions On and Off the Court

Like her mentor, John Wooden, Cori Close teaches her students far more than basketball skills. She teaches them how to succeed in life.

We are privileged to have Cori Close as our speaker, the remarkable Coach of the UCLA Women's Basketball Team. You do not need to be a basketball fan or a basketball player to enjoy this very special evening  with Cori.

An outstanding player in college, in 1992, Cori set an NCAA record for making free throws in a NCAA Tournament team. She has coached in 15 consecutive basketball tournaments.  Her players are her students and  they learn about life from her, while also learning the skills to be Champions in basketball. 

Here are two examples of what students have said about her:

UCLA's motto for all sports is  "CHAMPIONS ARE MADE HERE". Our speaker personifies the motto as she she works daily with her players.
