On Tuesday February 10 at 7 pm, we are honored to welcome author and journalist Jacob Soboroff for a conversation with Rabbi Jaclyn Cohen about his new book, “Firestorm: The Great Los Angeles Fires and America’s New Age of Disaster.” This event is an opportunity to hear from Jacob about his experience covering the LA fires of early January 2025, his work on climate and immigration justice, and the Jewish values that ground him his work. We will also participate in a collective ritual together with other clergy from LA synagogues marking just over one year since the Palisades and Eaton Fires.
Jacob recently returned from on-the-ground coverage of ICE's horrific actions in Minneapolis. As part of our broader conversation we will discuss what he witnessed firsthand, his extensive experience covering immigration policy and family separation, and where we go from here.
Many thanks to our friends at Village Well Books & Coffee for their partnership. Each ticket to this event comes with a copy of "Firestorm." and we are proud to support not just the author, but local independent bookstores, as well. FOR MEMBERS OF CHAI VILLAGE ONLY: Interested in attending but not purchasing the book? Reach out to Rabbi Jaclyn Cohen directly to RSVP: rabbijaclyn@templeisaiah.com
